I was MC (Master of Ceremonies) in February at the opening ceremony of 1 Angel Court in the City of London. A development of Japanese Mitsui Fudosan.
The Three barrels photo : Three barrels of different kinds of sake ready for the ‘Kamagi Wari’ ceremony where the guests of honour, including the Japanese Ambassador, would smash the lids on cue with wooden mallets. The ceremony brings health, happiness and wealth to the participants, so it is said. The sake would thus be accessible and poured into cups using ladles. To the Toast of ‘Kampai!’ all guests would share this popular drink and the formalities completed.
